Dauphinoise Potatoes

I wanted to do something different with potatoes this holiday. We always have mashed potatoes or sweet potatoes and I didn’t want to do normal scalloped potatoes so I automatically thought DAUPHINOISE POTATOES! It’s excellent. Sliced potatoes with cheese, cream, and spices….everybody will love it…..And they did!

Ingredients: 1 10 Lb bag of potatoes, 2 blocks of grated gruyer cheese, 2 pints of heavy cream, salt and pepper to taste, 5 cloves of crushed garlic, and 3 Tbsp fresh thyme.

Heat oven to 325 degrees.

Peel the potatoes and slice into really thin slices (you can use a food processor if you have the right attachment). Place a thin layer of potatoes on the bottom of the pan. Place a layer of cheese and season with salt and pepper. And repeat until the pan is full.

In a sauce pan, heat the heavy cream, garlic, and thyme together until just to a boil. Pour over the potatoes and place in the oven for an hour and half (or until the top is golden brown).

This dish was just heavenly and I like it better then actual scalloped potatoes. The gruyer cheese is perfect for this dish. This was the biggest hit as Christmas dinner.
