Sweet Asian Pork

So I’ve been having a streak of Bad Juju and today was actually a good day. Work was good and I get to cook tonight! My aunt took pork chops out of the freezer and asked me to come up with a marinade. Now with pork I automatically think about Asia. So I started thinking what ingredients are associated with Asia?

Ingredients: 1/4 cup oyster sauce, 1.5 cups soy sauce, 1 Tbsp brown sugar, 1 large jalapeno, 3 garlic cloves, 1/8 of an onion, 1 tsp coriander, 1 tsp cumin, 1 tsp white pepper, 1 tsp cayenne pepper, 1/8 tsp cinnamon, 10 drops chili oil, and 1/2 cup orange juice.

I marinaded the pork chops for about 1 hour and then baked at 375 for 30 minutes.

Now you would think that with all the spice in the marinade that the pork would be spicy, but on the contrary…the pork was actually sweet! Even I was surprised because I was really hoping for some Heat!! But all in all it was very good.

Side dishes: fingerling potatoes mashed together and some chopped rutabaga
