So we’re making Spare Ribs tonight and I thought we needed a BBQ Sauce. I’ve had BBQ pork before but to me the best kind of BBQ sauce that goes best with any kind of pork is Mustard based BBQ sauce.
Ingredients: 1 tsp butter, 1/4 cup minced onion, 2 tsp minced garlic, 1 cup yellow mustard, 1 cup white vinegar, 1/4 cup brown sugar, 1 Tbsp honey, and white pepper to taste.
Melt the butter in the sauce pan and the add the onions. Saute the onions until translucent then add the minced garlic and cook for 2 minutes (make sure nothing browns). Add the vinegar and bring to a boil. Add the mustard and mix in well then bring to another boil. Add the brown sugar and boil. Pour the honey into the sauce and mix well and bring to a boil. Lastly add the pepper and mix well. Boil for about 5 minutes on medium low heat then let the sauce cool.
(Now the sauce is going to be sweet but still taste like mustard. If you want it less sweet, add less brown sugar and more honey for more tang.)
Now I’m probably going to add the sauce to the ribs while cooking, but since you shouldn’t really sauce food while it’s on the BBQ, I’m cooking the ribs in tin foil and letting the ribs cook in the sauce (I’ll let you know how the ribs turn out!)
